Some Mid-Wisconsin Chippers members participated in a Josh Guge class at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, WI. In the November 2-4, 2018 class, students carved a Cape May Warbler. Josh Guge did a series of demonstrations that taught students every aspect of carving and painting a realistic bird. Members of the Mid-Wisconsin Chippers participated in the 18th Annual Wisconsin River Woodcarvers Show, Competition, and Sale. This show was held in Stevens Point, WI on September 15 and 16, 2018 in Stevens Point, WI.
Several area carvers attended the 2018 International Woodcarvers Congress in Maquoketa, IA.

The 2018 Mid-Wisconsin Chippers "Artistry in Wood" was held April 29, 2018 at the Crystal Springs Banquet Hall in New London, WI. The 2019 Mid-Wisconsin Chippers "Artistry in Wood" Show, Competition, and Sale will be held May 5, 2019 at the Oshkosh Convention Center, 2 North Main Street, Oshkosh, WI.
The Oshkosh Senior Center offers carving classes, woodburning classes, and open carving. Check the Opportunities page, the Senior Services website that has the Senior Center newsletter, "The Current." or call 920-232-5300 for more information. Several members participated in "Show and Tell" at the Chippers January 7, 2018 meeting. Betsy Popp provided information about her February and March 2018 classes. Greg Miller demonstrated habitat construction techniques and showed his prize-winning bark carving.
This is a recent photo of Ron and Laverne W. at the Valley VNA Love Light Angels program. Ron, a long-time Mid-Wisconsin Chippers member, is currently living at the VNA for health reasons. He has served the Chippers in a variety of ways while encouraging and mentoring other carvers. |
Two Mid-Wisconsin Chippers members took a Josh Guge Fish Carving Class in Elgin, IL on November 10, 11, and 12, 2018.
Club members participated in several events this fall. Josh Guge taught a bird carving class at the end of September and beginning of October. Members under the leadership of Linda G. participated in the Art over 60 at Simeanna in Oshkosh. Finally, there was a bus tour to Mosquito Hill Nature Center in New London, WI and the Birds in Art exhibit at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, WI at the end of October. Photos taken at the October 8, 2017 Mid-Wisconsin Chippers meeting. Members shared during "Show and Tell" and presented several demonstrations during the meeting.
Students carved a roadrunner in a class taught by Josh Guge. This class was held on September 27, 28, 29, 30, and October 1, 2017 in Neenah, WI.
The Wisconsin River Woodcarvers 17th Annual Woodcarving Show, Competition and Sale was held in Stevens Point, WI on September 23 and 24, 2017.
The 2017 Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum Birds in Art exhibition will be on view September 9 through November 26, 2017.
Mid-Wisconsin Chippers members demonstrated their skills at the 2017 Brigade Outdoors. This is a family friendly event exploring Wisconsin's outdoors. All proceeds benefit the Building Leaders program in Neenah and Camp Onaway.
Mid-Wisconsin Chippers members carved an European Bee Eater at Krausman's Wildlife Reference Photos & Woodcarving Studio, Gwinn, Michigan. The class was held from July 12-20, 2017. Dining and items for sale are located in the front with a carving area in the back. Photos were taken by Jim Krausman, who with his wife Pam, operates the facility.

The Affiliated Wood Carvers, Ltd; International Woodcarvers Congress Show was held from June 13-16, 2017 in Maquoketa, IA. Several Mid-Wisconsin Chippers members participated in this show. |

Gary Eigenberger, a world champion wildfowl artist in wood, gave a presentation about "The Making of a Harpy Eagle" and "Alive in Wood" at Woodland Dunes Nature Center in Two Rivers, WI on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. He has been carving since childhood and showed his first bird reference book and some of the first decoys that he carved. A gallery of Gary's carvings can be found on his website, Alive in Wood.
